I purchased my first 35mm film camera three years earlier in 2018, whilst knee-deep in an unfulfilling teaching degree I would ultimately abandon. Instead of dropping my newfound hobby in a fortnight as I suspected I would, my love affair with photography began.

Motherhood arrived, defining and evolving me. Creatively, it stretched me into the artist I needed and craved to be.

My personal work – the photographs of my children, fiancé, Xavier, and siblings – are my most vital and important photographs. They are a visual memoir, the foundation on which my vision is guided and informed.

Photography at it’s noblest is an acknowledgement that growth and change are inevitable, a fact of nature to be respected. The best photos are a celebration of the season we find ourselves in, an honouring of those rites of passage that mark our lives and bind us to one another:

Cluttered kitchen, a mess of shoes by the door, washing on the line for a third day now.

The delirious, squishy postpartum shower. I could barely stand but I was glowing.

I want to remember what it felt like. I want to feel it again.
