My approach broadly aligns with documentary and photojournalism. As such formal group shots and editorial portraits are not something I generally offer. My focus is on the natural moments occurring amongst groups and between couples.
I may guide you here and there, too (utilizing interesting light, for example). There will still be a classic wedding portrait for your wall. I use direction sparingly and with a spirit of play. In general, though, I do not allocate a large chunk of time out of your day for posed portraits. It has been my experience that 15 minutes of private time for the bride and groom immediately following the ceremony is plenty, or simply building formal portraits into the natural events of the day.
This is something we can discuss in the lead up, and I’m always happy to elaborate further on my methods via phone or zoom.

Couples I work with value the experience over the aesthetic. They have simple and nostalgic tastes, desiring photos like the wholesome and unpretentious ones found in their parents’ and grandparents’ wedding albums. They trust me to pay close attention to the energy of their day, to visually narrate their genuine adoration for one another.
When there is wholehearted trust present between us, that’s when magic can happen.
